I received my first pet portrait commission when
I was sixteen - an oil painting of my 4-H leader's
Morgan stallion.  Since then, I have created
hundreds of pet portraits in various media,
including horses, donkeys, mules, goats, cats,
prize winning cattle, pet birds, rabbits, and racing
pigeons. But, my specialty is dogs.

Since 1977, my illustrations and articles have
been published in numerous magazines and
books.  After seeing some of my published
cartoons, Sam Kohl asked me to illustrate his
book, All About Dog Shows. This book has gone
through several editions and is still in print.  This
was a big break for me as it gave my work a lot
    of credibility.

I hold both a BFA and MFA in studio art with a painting major from Michigan State University. Additionally, I
graduated

Previously, I was employed by the American Kennel Club as a Director, Judging Research and
Development.  In that capacity I was responsible for creating and delivering educational materials and
seminars for AKC conformation dog show judges.  I also produced over 50 individual computer imaging
breed standard presentations.  Additionally the

, which I edited, won national awards from the Dog Writer's Association of America.

I have been active in the dog show world since 1975, and have been a dog show judge since 1988.  I have
had the wonderful opportunity to judge throughout the USA, Canada, Japan, and Australia. My Bulldogs,
